Regaining lost ground

The road to recovery is a tough one. Often times, knowing what you were once capable of and realizing how far off you are presently is both demoralizing and enervating. It can keep you from trying, from grasping that bar again and working.

I say this mentality is a fallacy. The goal of recovery should not be one of returning to past glory. It should one of reaching loftier heights. Consider it an opportunity to try again, with a clean slate. Past greatness becomes the standard, the baseline, because you've ALREADY done it. Why settle for mediocre?
